Chamber Committees


Marketing Committee
Responsible for promoting Chamber events, activities and membership.

Education Committee
The Education Committee explores the education opportunities that the Chamber can offer to its members as well as the potential partnerships of businesses and the school community. The Education Committee also assists in the selection process for the scholarships provided by the Chamber to the Oak Creek and Franklin high school students who are preparing for a career in business.

Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee monitors federal, state, regional and local legislative issues and provides updates for members through meetings and forums. Issues that the committee monitors are transportation, especially the I-94 north south freeway project and the re-construction of S. 27th Street; the Gateway to Milwaukee and the airport’s impact on business development; and the Drexel Town Square. Events Committee
Develops and manages a variety of the South Suburban Chamber's special events: 
  • Assists in the development of the Chamber's annual golf outing
  • Assists in the planning of the Chamber's annual membership meeting and awards dinner
  • Promotes the awards for Business of the Year and Pride in Premises

Finance Committee
The primary function and responsibility of this committee is to monitor the finances and accounting records of the Chamber, review financial statements to the Board of Directors, including the profitability of individual events. They also review investments and earnings of the Chamber and provide financial advice and oversight to other committees. The Finance Committee provides assistance in the annual review of the membership dues structure and the annual budget.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is focused on developing the membership of the Chamber and promotes networking opportunities for members and potential members.

Manufacturers’ Council
The focus of the Manufacturers’ Council is to promote and enhance a positive business climate for manufacturing and related industries that operate within the South Suburban area and to provide a forum to address issues and serve as a valued resource for members.  

The Council in cooperation with MATC Oak Creek has sponsored the Heavy Metal Tour for high school students to introduce them to careers in manufacturing. It has also sponsored a scholarship for high school students who enroll in a manufacturing program at MATC Oak Creek.

South Suburban Young Professionals (SoSubYP)!
The South Suburban Young Professionals mission is:
  • Connect and engage Oak Creek/Franklin area young professionals to strengthen the business community
  • provide opportunities for personal and professional development
  • cultivate the next generation of Oak Creek/Franklin area leaders
  • foster networking opportunities and community participation.

SoSubYP achieves its purpose by:
  • Providing programming tailored to the needs of young professionals while connecting and engaging them with the Oak Creek/Franklin area business community.
  • Encouraging active participation in the Chamber and Oak Creek/Franklin community by introducing members to leadership and growth opportunities within the region.
  • Organizing community service opportunities that acclimate young professionals to the non-profit and charitable organizations in the region while fulfilling local needs.

     How to get involved!
      Membership is $25 a year which includes at least 5 morning meet-ups and two Happy Hour events. Not a "Young Professional" but want to get involved? We're  
      looking for advisors and mentors to guide our programming!
